The “pulled” table is meant to look like it is pulled from the 4 corners…or is that a stretch? The brass plates are structural/mechanical . The tool used to shape the edges of the table, was guided by the natural grain of the walnut slab, reflecting the dialogue between the mechanical and the natural. The piece was finished with oil, and a light top coat of catalyzed polyurethane, which will protect it in everyday use for a long time.
